workshop will educate ministers, church members and volunteers how to position
their religious organization for mainstream grant seeking. From the renewed
federal faith-based initiatives to foundation grantmakers, Dr. Bev Browning,
author of Faith-Based Grants: Aligning
Your Church to Receive Abundance and Grant
Writing For Dummies will teach you how to find grant monies; how to make your
organization more eligible to receive grant awards, and what you need to know and write
in a winning grant application to both private and public sector grantmakers.You will also be introduced to a long
checklist of capacity-building steps that a potential grant applicant must be
led through before entering the grant seeking arena for faith-based projects
(ministries and community outreach).
Individuals attending this workshop will achieve the
following learning objectives:
Understanding of how to
find and use grant databases on the Internet.
Understanding of the
characteristics of an eligible grant applicant (private and public sector
funders).
Understanding of how to
find and incorporate critically needed service population demographics into
your statement of need.
Understanding of why it is
important to have at least 10 or more community partners listed in your grant
proposal and who your stakeholders are in the eyes of the funders.
Understanding of how to
organize a volunteer grant writing team among church or ministry members to
reduce deadline-related stress.
Understanding of the major
narrative sections of a grant proposal and how to successfully write key
sections with high review point values.
